Here’s Your Sign

Catch phrase of the week: "Here’s Your Sign".
May we all have less encounter with incident or people such as below in the new lunar year.

———————————————————————————————————–

"Stupid people should have to wear signs that just say, "I’m stupid". That way you wouldn’t rely on them, would you? You wouldn’t ask them anything. It would be like, "Excuse me…oops…never mind, didn’t see your sign."

It’s like before my wife and I moved. Our house was full of boxes and there was a U-Haul truck in our driveway. My neighbor comes over and says, "Hey, you moving?" "Nope. We just pack our stuff up once or twice a week to see how many boxes it takes. Here’s your sign."

I stayed late at work one night and a co-worker looked at me and said, "Are you still here?" I replied, "No. I left about 10 minutes ago.
Here’s your sign."

A couple of months ago I went fishing with a buddy of mine, we pulled his boat into the dock, I lifted up this big ol’stringer of bass and
this idiot on the dock goes, "Hey, y’all catch all them fish?" "Nope. Talked ‘em into giving up. Here’s your sign."

I was watching one of those animal shows on the Discovery Channel. There was a guy inventing a shark bite suit. And there’s only one way to test it. "Alright, Jimmy, you got that shark suit on, it looks good… They want you to jump into this pool of sharks, and you tell
us if it hurts when they bite you." "Well, all right, but hold my sign. I don’t wanna lose it."

Last time I had a flat tire, I pulled my truck into one of those side-of-the-road gas stations. The attendant walks out, looks at my
truck, looks at me, and I SWEAR he said, "Tire go flat?" I couldn’t resist. I said, "Nope. I was driving around and those other three just
swelled right up on me. Here’s your sign."

We were trying to sell our car about a year ago. A guy came over to the house and drove the car around for about 45 minutes. We get back to the house , he gets out of the car, reaches down and grabs the exhaust pipe, then says, "Darn that’s hot!" See, if he’d been wearing his sign, I could have stopped him.

I learned to drive an 18-wheeler in my days of adventure. Wouldn’t you know, I misjudged the height of a bridge. The truck got stuck and I couldn’t get it out, no matter how I tried. I radioed in for help and eventually a local cop shows up to take the report. He went through his basic questioning ..okay…no problem. I thought for sure he was clear of needing a sign…until he asked, "So, is your truck stuck?" I couldn’t help myself! I looked at him, looked back at the rig and then back to him and said, "No, I’m delivering a bridge… here’s your sign."

SALSA 101: Do’s and Don’t’s of the Dance World - For Beginners and Some Regulars

February 22, 2007

These basic rules of behavior in salsa clubs will help you and other patrons make their dance experience more enjoyable.  It’s amazing how many people are completely oblivious to their surroundings and need to be reminded to be considerate to others.

As you might have noticed salsa clubs can get very crowded, so:

-   DO NOT stand on the dance floor while people are dancing. Elbows and feet flying all over the place.  Wanna get hit?

-   DO NOT hold or carry drinks on the dance floor for the above mentioned reasons. You may have to lick your drink off the floor.

 -  DO NOT walk across the dance floor during a dance.(see above)

-   DO NOT block the "traffic lanes" when people are trying to get around you.

-   DO leave a space opened for people to pass.

-   DO make small steps while dancing. Making big steps in order to learn is OK during lessons - not on the crowded dance floor.  Regulars can tell you  how many times they’ve been hurt. If you get hurt yourself "that’ll learn ya".

-   DO use club floor space OFF THE DANCE FLOOR to practise your moves (hallways, balconies etc.)

-   DO apologize to fellow dancers if you step on somebody.  How can you not feel if you touch someone?!  (Reach and touch someone is no good here)

-   DO wipe the sweat off your face before you kiss a friend hello.

-   DO wipe your sweaty hands before you ask someone for a dance.

-   DO try to find an empty space to dance instead of squeezing into someone else’s.

-   In a nutshell, BE considerate to other salsanuts.

It just gets better

February 18, 2007

I was looking back at some photos in my notebook, “reminiscing” on some good old times. I then found a folder containing this tile “Muhib - Salsa”. As many might know I was a “I-Want-To-Know-About-Salsa" to a "Salsa-Addict" by now.

The folder contains some pix taken in November, where we MMNers got together to learn a particular dance step every week. We are no professionals, just a bunch of friends-dance lover-fun loving-people who came together and share some moves. I’ve learnt some basics to tap-dancing, belly dancing, zapin, hip-hop, line-dancing (Magdalena).

That was the time where I was “unofficially” introduced to some salsa steps. And that was the start of my ‘unofficially’ curiosity about salsa. And that was also the time when Terence taught us some few steps and “unofficially” introduced SalsaJay to me.  Seriously, i look hideous that time emoticon But nevertheless, it was heaps of fun too!

And all these ‘unofficial” state of affairs, brought me SalsaJay, and now part of their family and my new found love- to salsa.

We need a man!

Hmm, i finally got a man. So, what do I do with him?

Terence, giving some tips to the men.

I miss this huge studio!

I am proud to know how much I have evolved now, just less than 3 months into taking professional dance “help”. I am glad I took the first move to sign up for class. If not, I would have just look at people dancing in front of me, feeling envious and twitchy.

Tips to Improve your Salsa Dancing

1. You’re your own worst critic… Watch yourself in a mirror or videotape yourself; and see what you like or don’t like about your salsa dancing and change it…

2. Whether you’re just starting out or been dancing for a while, sign up for a class or take a workshop to learn some new moves or to help improve your technique…

3. Want to add a little more spice to your dance style? Analyze what you like about a dancer’s particular style and see if you can start emulating some of their movements in front of the mirror at home. Need more help? Take a styling class, a private with an instructor whose style you enjoy watching, and/or purchase a styling videotape.

4. You’re lousy at dancing on time to the music? Take a music workshop class, a private with an instructor OR ask your friends to help you "listen" to the music.

5. Take a class in a dance style you know nothing about, such as Afro-Cuban, hip hop, jazz…

6. Hate shines? Usually it may be because you may be too lazy to learn, practice and memorize them. Make a game plan to try and learn one new shine a month and use it while dancing on the dance floor… or take a cardio-salsa class with a salsa instructor at a gym (which is usually made up of shine patterns).

7. Find someone who loves to dance as much as you do and become practice partners to learn new moves…

8. Can’t find a partner, who needs one… learn new moves from a videotape or class and set aside one night a week to practice at home in front of a mirror…

9. Bored of just social dancing in the clubs? Why not take your dancing to the next level by trying out for a dance group or participating in a dance contest?

10. Do you want to be a good leader or follower to the point where you don’t have to ask for dance, but everyone’s asking you? Here’s a snapshot on what it takes to reach the ultimate salsa goal…

Leader: The ladies know every dance with you is so much fun — they can get their salsa fix from you in one or two dances. As a leader, your attention is 100% on your partner and the enjoyment of dancing that song together. You’ve mastered the lead so well that it doesn’t matter what level of skill they’re at (beginner, intermediate, advanced) — they know exactly where you want them to be and what moves you are doing without a tug of war; and/or doing crazy moves which forces them to bump into and/or be stepped on by other dancers on a crowded dance floor. Your skill as a dancer is at such a level that you don’t even need a partner for someone to appreciate how you can move on the dance floor (style-wise). You never refuse a dance without good reason and if you promise to dance with them later, you remember your promise.

Follower: The leader knows that he’ll have 100% of your attention during the whole dance and you’ll be able to follow whatever move he can give you at a moment’s notice. You don’t try to anticipate or lead yourself and even if you both make mistakes, you can laugh, smile and/or apologize for the mistake (not give him dirty looks). You can execute his every move seamlessly and can add a little spice to his dancing enjoyment by adding your own personality (from ladies styling) into the dance. You don’t refuse and judge the other dancer just by his looks or whether you think he can dance, then go up to him later and ask for a dance when you realize he really does know how to dance.

The RULES OF DANCING SALSA

The MALE must apologize immediately for causing said misunderstanding
The FEMALE may change her mind at any time.
The MALE must never change his mind without the express
written consent of the FEMALE.
The FEMALE has every right to be angry or upset at any time.

The MALE is expected to mind read at all times.
The MALE who doesn’t abide by The Rules can’t take the heat,

Any attempt to document The Rules could result in bodily harm.
If the FEMALE has PMS, all The Rules are null and void.
The FEMALE is ready when she is ready.
The MALE must be ready at all times.

(haha..this is hilarious. as a female dancer, all i can say is…hey, we are not that bad :P )

Pisces the Fishes

February 13, 2007

Pisces is the twelfth sign of the Zodiac and indicates the final stage of development in a human being. Being born under the sign of the fish, you are therefore at a stage of completion in your development and will have a strong sense of your place in the spiritual scheme of things. Compassion and a universal approach to life underlie most of what you do. You cannot stand to see suffering of any sort and will go out of your way to help others, even helpless animals, if you feel as though you can relieve their pain. You’ll always be sought out by those in distress, because your presence makes them feel calm and assured.

Pisces is said to be the most sensitive of signs–and the most vulnerable. The traditional Pisces traits are imaginative and sensitive, compassionate and kind, selfless and unworldly, intuitive and sympathetic. Pisceans tend to withdraw into a dream world where their qualities can bring mental satisfaction and sometimes, fame and financial reward for they are extremely gifted artistically. They are also versatile and intuitive, have quick understanding, observe and listen well, and are receptive to new ideas and atmospheres.

Pisces’s glyph shows two fish hooked together but swimming in opposite directions. The image is a metaphor for the Piscean character. One part of it swims wide, toward the edge of the universe, while the other dives deep seeking some mystical substratum of reality. Ideally there is a rhythm to the journeys: the fish reunite and share their discoveries before setting out again on their separate missions.

Unselfish submission defines love for the Piscean, who gains more pleasure from giving than from receiving. They often succumb to temptation, and float from one partner to another. In this way, or by refusing any partners, they avoid becoming hooked by deep emotional commitment. Those who refuse both these directions and take a middle way are richly awarded. They are never egotistical in their personal relationships.

Romanticism plays a role in the lives of the Piscean. Free of negative influences, however, they are cheerful and sensual and quietly appreciative of life’s pleasures. Pisceans are visionaries; they often find it hard to live in the present or to interact with people less spiritually inclined than they.

However, the vulnerable Pisceans are escapists and idealistic, secretive and vague, weak-willed and easily led.

Ok, now let’s see which star sign i’m most compatible with…(I’ve dated 2 Leos and 2 Geminis..hmm…)

Pisces and Aries
Sensitive Pisces and pioneering Aries can make a relationship work, but not without a great deal of compromise. Representing the beginning and the end of the zodiac cycle, Aries is symbolized by the brand new baby and Pisces by the very old soul. Pisces is usually more than happy to serve the ego needs of the more self-oriented Ram, while the Ram can give the Fish a much needed charge of vital energy. If Aries gets too hotheaded with the sensitive Fish or Pisces gets too emotional with active Aries, the result is usually mutual dissatisfaction. Pisces can help impatient Aries hold back, but Aries can help Pisces move forward when courage and action is called for. When they work together with an understanding of their differences, they can be stronger and more effective as a team than individually. It may seem that Aries is constantly demanding attention, while tender Pisces suffers in silence. However, both signs are exceptionally creative and will enjoy finding ways to keep passion alive. In the end though, there will need to be more than sexual attraction to keep you together. Finding common interests and goals is a must. While not the easiest match in the Zodiac, both can benefit and grow from the relationship with each other. Piscean imagination and mysterious allure will bring out a new sensitivity and romanticism in an Aries Lover. However, the Ram’s tendency to criticize may trouble the Fish. Tact is needed to cement this otherwise attractive partnership and, especially if there are compatible aspects between your Moon signs, this can be a long and rewarding association. Its a satisfactory match.

Pisces and Taurus
Dreamy Pisces and romantic Taurus can be one of the most stable combinations of the Zodiac. Both signs love indulging in the pleasures of the senses. This combination naturally attracts wealth. It often seems that the faith of Pisces helps the practical dreams of Taurus come true, while the Bull’s artistic bent enhances your creative imagination.Pisces is ruled by spiritual Jupiter and dreamy Neptune, which is said to be the higher octave of Venus, the ruler of Taurus. Often what begins as an animal attraction becomes refined over the years, and it isn’t uncommon to see this combination last well into old age. However, neither Pisces nor Taurus is crazy about initiating change and will often allow unsatisfactory conditions wear down the good feelings between them. By being too passive and accepting of each other, they can stay stuck in unproductive jobs and lifestyles. It might be a good idea for both to draw up a list of goals and chart their progress, otherwise they might just turn into a couple of couch potatoes. This is one of the most compatible and comfortable combinations of the Zodiac and together both will furnish a secure and luxurious setting for love. Both are highly passionate and sensual, although Pisces tends to be more emotionally volatile and there is some tendency to fall into a rut. Overall, though, it’s an excellent match.

Pisces and Gemini
Pisces, the Fishes, and Gemini, the Twins, are both mutable signs with dual symbols. But the bond of a common quality can be enough to keep them interested for life. Both signs love communicating in creative ways, so expect plenty of double entendres and meaningful silences.Gemini is ruled by fickle Mercury, and if there is one thing a Gemini fears, it is boredom. Pisces is usually anything but boring. Gemini prefers to live in a world of ideas, while Pisces inhabits a world of emotions, making it necessary for the two to respect each other’s boundaries. Pisces can understand and appreciate Gemini’s frequent new ideas on a deeply intuitive level. This combination works best when both have matured, otherwise they are likely to call it quits before they have truly started. Gemini is rarely ready to commit early in life, while Pisces generally settles down early and often.Pisces, a Water Sign and Gemini, an Air Sign, tend to come together in a refreshing, healing mist. The sex can be sublime, as the Twins’ light touch can give life to the rich fantasies of the Fish. However, if Gemini doesn’t give the sensitive Fish enough time and energy, he or she may move on in search of someone more attentive. If Pisces demands too much emotional energy, the Twins are likely to give up in exasperation.Pisces will naturally have a lot of trouble accepting Gemini’s fickleness and thoughtlessness and often Gemini is unable to put up with that Piscean trademark emotionalism and dreaminess. Insecure Pisces can often be possessive and clinging, while Gemini wants to have fun and move on. Both usually seek more dominant partners. This may not be the easiest combination of the Zodiac, but other planetary factors can make this one of the most imaginative and creative couples in the Cosmos. At the very least, the relationship will be unforgettable. This is not a match made in heaven.

Pisces and Cancer
Pisces, the Fishes, and Cancer, the Crab, are both Water signs, making them both very much at home in the world of feelings and emotions. This union is very compatible, as they intuitively understand and appreciate each other’s needs. It is one of those relationships that just feels right from the start and moves forward naturally. If the fish can control their tendencies toward emotional excess and focus on encouraging and supporting each other, they can go very far in life as a loving team.Cancer can be sexually demanding and Pisces will respond to this powerful passion. Both will find passion, sensitivity, and tenderness in each other. Cancer likes to make most of the decisions, and the Fish don’t mind that. Cancer’s concern for security and excellent money-sense provides much practical stability to the relationship. Cancer is loyal and once committed will be exclusively devoted. In turn, Pisces will idolize that gorgeous Cancerian lover. This can be one of the easiest, most natural combinations of the Zodiac, but it can become too emotional and irrational. Still, given the sensual communication and compatible outlook, this is a perfect match.

Pisces and Leo
Pisces, the Fishes, and Leo, the Lion, often share a karmic connection, being an unlikely pair yet finding themselves drawn to each other. Fire Sign Leo enjoys the attention of flattering Pisces, and Pisces appreciates the distinction of being chosen as special one. While at first glance it may seem you have nothing in common, this is far from the case. It can be a mutually beneficial combination, if the two are willing to work around basic personality differences.Because Leo is a Fire Sign and Pisces is a Water Sign, they can create passionate, positive steam. However, enthusiastic, demanding Leo can overwhelm the more retiring and timid Pisces, while the cautious Fishes can sometimes seem like a wet blanket to the life-of-the-party Lion or Lioness. It is important for both to understand their basic personality differences and to be ready to make some compromises, otherwise the lordly Lion could wake up one day to find the more passive Fish has quietly slipped away. This is a challenging combination, but it can be very satisfying. With mutually compatible planetary placements and aspects it can be long lasting and the source of much pleasure. Given maturity and grace, this combination can bring you much creativity and joy. However, this not a perfect match.

Pisces and Virgo
Pisces and Virgo may resemble the Odd Couple at first glance, but the principle of ‘opposites attract’ is often at work with these two. Virgo is practical, while Pisces is dreamy… Virgo needs order, but Pisces seems at home in a world of creative chaos. Virgoans often remain single throughout life, but when they finally settle down, don’t be surprised to find a gentle Fish on the line. You are both concerned with making the world a better place and can do well when they combine your strengths. This is a partnership worth trying. Both Virgo and Pisces are Mutable Signs. This works in favour when attempting to understand each other, but is not the most stable of mixtures. The best thing is that both are interested in communicating and will make honest attempts to get the relationship to work - even if it seems rocky at first. There is a magnetic attraction between the two that is hard to resist, but both can be strongly repelled by some negative personality traits at the same time. Each has much to give to each other and can be stronger as a team than apart. They will have to accept and respect their natural differences before they can begin to make any real progress. This is a challenging combination, as it represents the coming together of two opposites. With mutually compatible planetary placements and aspects it can be long-lasting and the source of much spiritual growth. As long as both can respect and appreciate each other’s innate personality differences, you can form a strong and positive union. This is not a perfect match.

Pisces and Libra
Pisces and Libra is one of those strange but beautiful combinations, usually brought together by fate, rather than by conscious choice. Pisces, rule by fortunate Jupiter and imaginative Neptune, naturally loves to be with Libra, and in turn Libra loves to share creative resources with the appreciative Fish. If a Libran lover resists the temptation to take advantage of the Fish and the Fish learn to trust and respect the airy Scales, they can build a stronger bond with time.Because Libra is an Air Sign and Pisces is a Water Sign, they can create a healthy, healing mist. When they are out of balance, they can create destructive storms between them. When each learn to let their shared love of peace and balance be the guiding force, they can create soothing environments that friends and family members will delight in.This combination works best when they have a joint goal or purpose to work towards. It is an unusual combination and not a match made in Heaven.

Pisces and Scorpio
Pisces and Scorpio is a legendary combination, one that is never forgotten. Fiercely loyal and passionate, the two find it very easy to be together. In fact, you might find it hard to resist each other.Because both are Water Signs, they come together very naturally and understand each other’s moods almost wordlessly, as a sort of spiritual telepathy exists between them. However, If they do not work to build a concrete, practical foundation for their partnership, it will be all too easy to get lost to the lure of drama and escapism and when the two of you are together it may be even harder to resist mind and mood altering substances.A Pisces should always remember that Scorpio is reluctant to reveal all, even to to them as a part of that scorpion soul must remain apart - and very private. Otherwise a Scorpio’s strength is a perfect backup for any Fishy insecurities they may harbour. In turn, Pisces’s imagination sparks Scorpio’s creativity. They will give their divine Scorpio lover their full devotion and admiration, while their shared fascination with lovemaking generates a luminous, romantic aura. The intense emotional needs of both signs neatly complement each other. Pisces’s intuitive awareness and Scorpio’s depth of feeling unite in a special closeness. This kind of mating lasts. Intimate, almost psychic communication, mutual stimulation and amazing sex make this a perfect match

Pisces and Sagittarius
Pisces and Sagittarius are one of those unlikely couples who seem to get along, despite their differences. If anyone can keep a Sagittarius interested, it is the creative and multifaceted Fish. With Jupiter smiling on both, the good life can be their’s to share.Pisces, the Fishes, and Sagittarius, the Archer, are both Mutable Signs, giving the two a true desire to communicate, even if theirstyles don’t seem all that compatible. Sagittarius is uninhibited, ready to make love on impulse and not impressed with delaying tactics, or feeble, wimpy approaches. The most important issue is truth and honesty and the Archer does not have much patience with more convoluted souls in these matters. There must be common ground for both to build on, otherwise the two will work at cross purposes. However, with hard work and patience, this can be a rewarding relationship

Pisces and Capricorn
Pisces and Capricorn are a surprisingly excellent match. Pisces is a Mutable Sign and Capricorn is a Cardinal Sign, so both are generally willing to follow Capricorn’s capable lead. In return, the fish can create a peaceful haven for Capricorn to escape to, something the Sea-Goat will appreciate deeply. Capricorn often suffers from a bad case of the worries, but bring a breath of romance and idealism Capricorn does not easily verbalize deep feelings that are there, but the fish intuitively recognize their Goaty lover’s loyalty and passion. Randy Capricorn is open to sexual experiment, but as a rule, prefers not to take the initiative at first, at least until they are sure of their ground. Capricorn is fundamentally loyal, needing a supportive partner to whom he or she will remain faithful, once committed. However, should A Pisces prove unfaithful, the green-eyed demon of jealousy will emerge with a vengeance. This can be overcome by spending some time and delicate experimentation.A Water Sign blending with an Earth sign, Pisces and Capricorn often to do very well when in comes to securing a comfortable material future. Water needs Earth to provide structure while Earth needs Water to be fruitful and multiply. Raising a family, even just a family of assorted friends and pets, comes very naturally to the two of them. Amassing a fortune is not out of the question, but both Pisces and Capricorn come into this world with some karmic baggage to work out, so don’t expect anything to come easy! Instead, maintain a sense of integrity and they will find that together they are able to improve a lot in their life. This combination works well . This can be a perfect match.

Pisces and Aquarius
Pisces is one of the few signs in the Zodiac that understands Aquarius, the quirky Water-Bearer, while the Water-Bearer is genuinely interested in Piscean mystical views. To be sure, the tender heart of the fish doesn’t always enjoy or appreciate the more detached moods and opinions so frequently displayed by Aquarius, and Aquarius is uncomfortable with any relationship that seems confining, but with a little patience the two of them can find common ground.Pisces is the exaltation of Venus, so their romantic eroticism can inspire an Aquarian lover to experiment in new areas. However, Pisces must remember, that detached Aquarius is mainly interested in ideas and the world at large, while the Piscean primary concern is with emotional expression and sensual fulfilment.A Water Sign blending with an Air sign, Pisces and Aquarius become more like each other over time. Just as Water evaporates into Air, which then turns to rain, the two of will have an opportunity to experience profound transformation. Being the last two signs in the zodiac, both represent the cumulative experiences of all the signs that came before them.Eventually, outgoing, socially-minded Aquarius may start looking around because Independent Aquarius needs freedom, so Pisces need to understand that their unconventional lover may resent any struggle to keep this free spirit caged at home. It is a combination that needs discipline and motivation, but can be a thrilling and mind-expanding match. Both share the bonding experience of being ahead of their time and a world apart from the rest of humanity. It is however, not a match made in heaven.

Pisces and Pisces
Pisces, the Sign of the Fishes, is a Water Sign. While both are irresistibly drawn to each other, they are both prone to become lost in dreams and fantasies. If they can commit to practical and realistic goals together, there are excellent chance of success.Because both are Mutable Signs, communication will be almost effortless between them. The only danger of this is taking their connection for granted. The need to make things clear through the written or spoken word is very important. It is not a good idea to try to deceive a Pisces lover. That other Fish will surely know the truth on some level, and will be hurt eventually. Ultimately, the two of you are among the most compassionate and understanding people in the Zodiac, and this gentleness of spirit must be extended to each other as well. The double Water Sign connection gives an instant empathy for each other, but this can be lost if drugs, alcohol, and other forms of escapism is allowed. Nevertheless, the power of Jupiter and Neptune can bring a deeply intuitive, even spiritual flavour to the mixture, so long as at least one of the two is of a settled nature. Overall, this is a wonderful combination when both partners are balanced
