Save the last dance

October 8, 2008

My baby gal Ru Yee has grown up so much. And she is leaving us to Bristol. My last advice to her was "drink more, party till you drop, dont take drugs, and must take good care of yourseldf, and never trust men".

Our lives have taken us on many roads, lets just hope our roads cross again one day. Till then keep in touch. And keep salsa alive!!

El Cerdo

August 12, 2008

We were invited to E Cerdo to celebrate TONY The BIG Tiger Birthday. I have heard about this place from friends, but it freaks me out a lil’ when i heard that they cook everything-i mean everything you get from Piggie. Specialises in all parts of the pig, from knuckle to the whole piglet as well as having the most variety of preparations i.e. the ham, oven roast or a simple grill. But it seems that everyone loves it. And I was so happy to finally meet up with some my salsa buddies.

El Cerdo which means "Pig" in Spanish.

This is the TIGER!

With Jacqui aka Sailormoon! She is so cute!

Rachel: enjoying herself very much. She’s the adventurous one

Vinnie and Camellia

This pic is so orangeee

Baby was there too. But he doesnt wanna go back there for some *personal* reason :-p

This was what he had.

Spanish Salami; Pork Liver Pate and Pig Cheek in Wine Aspic err…and more….

“One Plate of 4 different Mini Sausages”
Thüringer Rostbratwurst or El Cerdo’s Farmer Sausage -Farmer -Thuringer -German Pepper & Spicy Lyonner Sausage

Hmm…I have no idea what this is

Camellia’s Vegetarian Spagetti. She was a vegetarian for the day. Yet she still came. It does need a lot of resistance to conquer such tempation!

My Fav dish for the nite!! This spare ribs is really really good. I mean KFC’s Finger Licking Good Tagline is totally redundant. This is the real deal of Finger Licking Good. Yes, you have to eat with your hand, to enjoy this to the fullest.

Paella with Seafood, Chicken & Chorizo Sausage & Pork

Apparently this is the highlight of the night. Suckling Pig.

The suckling pig - soft and tender . And to show you how soft and tender it is Jacqui and I were given a plate to cut it into pieces. Yes, it’s the tradition way of eating. We had Stephan, Mr Werner’s nephew giving us instructions on how it is done. With just a plate, it was all chopped up! Then in order to have a good luck, (which Stephan asked us to chose between Love or Wealth, I’d chosen Wealth, coz I have my LOVE already) you will then need to throw the plate into a barrel which in order to crush the plate. So, you will be hearing a lot of “piang” sound in the restaurant all night long.

This was the piggie we chopped.

ANd lotsa MONEY LUCK! :-p

Tony’s very own Birthday Cake Drink

This drink is yummy, must try "Yin & Yang"

BLOW!!

We completed the nite with dessert : Classical Italian “Tiramisu” with a touch of Mango

Isnt he lucky?

But, I still think this GUY is the luckiest! LOL emoticon

MissMynx wants to go to Singapore International Salsa Festival 2008!!

July 11, 2008

The SISF is confirmed. Months of fretting on whether it will happen or not, and not forgetting the enthusiastic petitioning by Singapore’s salsa community, it is now confirmed that the Singapore International Salsa Festival will happen on October 24-26 at Downtown East!! I have heard all the good reviews from friends about SISF, some described it as world class salsa event. The only salsa events that i have been to besides all the normal salsa parties, is the World Latin Salsa Congress 2008, held in Penang not long ago. I didnt get to enjoy much, as i was part of the organising committee. Missed out on the workshops and by the time i have time to salsa - I ran out of energy :-( Nevertheless, I had fun!! Now I’m thinking if I have the time to go to SISF. As usual, work is never ending. If I dont start taking time off from work,I will never decide. But, I hate going away from work knowing that there will be tons of project waiting for me when I come back. Hate it. Oh god! Please help me decide!

I found out that Salsa Y Punto will be performing in SISF. Met them during Salsa Congress, and I must say-they are fantastic!! I would love to meet them again. Jhonny Sanchez is like my Salsa Hero!! He is sooo good, and kinda cute too. Tho he cant speak english, and me no speaking Spanish, we had lotsa sign language goin on… hehe.

Since I’m reminiscing about the great times I had in Penang, here are some pix that I’d love to share. Some great people I met, and I danced with!!

Vinnie and I went on a roadtrip together. She kept me company, and never failed to make me laugh. It was fun bithing and gossiping about ourselves. *no, we dun bitch abt other ppl*

Oooh…Jhonny Sanchez, he is sooooo cute.

Another great great dancer. She said I have nice hair- in spanish. Tho I dont understand a single work, her hand gestures said so :)

My beautiful Salseras

Jhonny Sanchez, as usual, surrounded by gals!

Bobby. HOT.BODY.

Second day. Salsa Beach Party. My first time salsa-ing by the beach!

Adrienne. I love this gal. She soo bubbly and cheerful.

Natalia.Me.Patricia.Kevin.We.Are.Trying.To.Get.Drunk.

Last day. Gala Dinner Night. Josie Neglia is a legend. She is a fabulous dancer,

and she asked if my hair is real.

Fasilito. You see him alot on So You Think You Can Dance, Malaysia

Oren and Pascal. They are from Australia.

Jhonny. Again.

Last day. Last session of camwhoring with Jhonny! Isnt he cute?? I think it’s cute that he cant speak english, kinda mysterious emoticon

Anyone wants to go to Singapore International Salsa Festival? Girls in bikinis. Guaranteed!

Merry Xmas 2007

December 29, 2007

Few days back I was at Genting. Now I’m sitting in my room, suffering from allergies..well, I shall not talk about it…

Anyways, back to  Genting. It was a pleasant trip and I was very happy about it. I was surrounded by many beautiful people, in a beautiful place to celebrate Christmas.
Christmas always remind me on how time flies, Now is the time in my life where I get to do a lot of reflections. It’s not the easiest thing to do.

I came across this question, not along ago. The question remains however, am I just showing different facets of myself, or is there no unity to the self?
Is there one true self, who you really are?  I would say no.  Do you have a soul? I would say yes.

He asked. How can these ideas coexist?

To me, there is no one true self, there is no way that you will be, that you ought to be in the sense that if you don’t become that person you have betrayed your true nature.  While I do think it is possible that you may not have lived up to some kind of potential that exists in each of us, there is no preset amount of “greatness” that you could have accomplished.  Instead you have a soul, a part of the universe that is uniquely you, but what that soul is to become is up to you.  It is constructed by you and co-constructed by your environment, your peers….rite?

Oh well, it’s just me babbling here..it’s my blog after all :) Here are some pix Mikey took during our trip in Genting.

This is the room where it all began…

Salsa to The Malaysian Book of Records

September 11, 2007

Often it is said that you only get out of something what you put in. I wonder if that means, if we put a lot of effort into our ‘nows’ our ‘thens’ will be better but then again, we won’t need to go back because we’ll be building such a great present. Let’s be kind to ourselves and offer us a great present living life to it’s full… living it now … And let us be kind to others and help them with what we can.

*Post edited: I would like to insert this group picture*taken from James*. It was really great to see so many beautiful souls who came to contribute to the event and made it all possible! 15 hours next year yea… emoticon

*Well done*

Malaysian Salsa Marathon - Mission Accomplished

September 8, 2007

We have made it! 14 hours of salsa, breaking into the Malaysian Book of Record and raised funds for Leukaemia Children at Hospital University Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM).
I’m so proud of myself, and "EVERYONE" of you who was there to support this event! I wouldn’t have stayed all nite if it wasnt because of the tremendous spirit you guys have.

I’m too tired to blog about it now. But i need to satisfied Ms Angie (she’s bugging me on msn now) with some photos.

Mikey took this series of pix when I was dancing with Jacques. And i thought it turned out quite nice, dont you think? emoticon
